A message from my love when I haven’t heard from him all day and he’s been skiing.
When someone comes into the lounge at work and sits down and there’s an awkward silence and I take one of my headphones off to be polite, but we end up sitting in silence the entire time.
When I’m running down the stairs and my foot lands on the edge of the step and I’m moments away from falling face first.
Seeing someone tweaking at the train station and they look at me with eyes wide open and they come towards me and turn away at the last second.
Scrolling by a picture of old friends and accepting that they have moved on without me, and I should too.
Hearing a loud noise.
Walking in the winter and slipping on ice with just a second to balance before I fall.
Knowing I’m up next to present and I’m not ready and will never be ready but fuck I’m already up here so let’s wing it.
When I’m stoned and my mind is running a hundred miles a minute and I think of everything I have done and everything I could do from now until the end.
Looking around the room at my chosen family and feeling more myself than I ever have.
When I find an idea I want to write about and I write until my hands hurt.
