I’m getting scary good at waking up before my alarm clock. The worst is when it’s one minute before I HAVE to wake up, it’s pointless to even try closing my eyes again after that.
At this point my body acts before my mind does. I pull my bathrobe off it’s hook and saunter over to the bathroom. I never turn the light on, the night light is enough in this half awake half asleep grogginess. I have to remember to blow my nose in the bathroom so I don’t wake up Mr. Sleepyhead.
Creams, potions, serums are next. One to debuf the eyes, one to moisterize, and of course, we can’t leave out sunscreen.
Crap, forgot to brush my teeth. That should technically be first but who cares? Anyway, once that’s done, time to make myself not look tired.
I like to start with eyebrows because they take the longest. it comes out different every morning but no one’s called me out on it yet. Actually Tyler did once and I just said, “I tried.”
At this point I have to climb off the counter (yes I like to sit on the counter because standing when you’re asleep is mehhhhhhhhhh) to see what I’m wearing for the day.
Then I decide what color eyeshadow to wear. sometimes it’s eyeliner but that only works when my alargies aren’t acting up. Speaking of, I have to blow my nose again.
Putting a face on is what I like to call it. That’s what we do every morning, at least those of us who still work in person.
My favorite part about the day is the unwinding. The cathartic ritual of taking your face off. metaphorically, or course, though you do have to thoroughly scrub your face to get everything out. Then the flossing, and teeth brushing. And the general unwinding that comes with getting ready for bed.
All these rituals that become habbits at some point instead of feeling like chores, these little things are what its all about sometimes.
