Let me premise this by saying that I am very new to working out and I am still learning every day. It’s been a month since I started committing to a schedule and while it has not been easy, I’ve noticed a huge difference in myself already.
First Week
Holy hell this was probably the worst week for me. It is true what they say, starting is the hardest part of anything. I try to do one hour a day, Monday through Friday, and here’s what I do within that hour:
- 20-30 Minutes of Yoga
- One set of pushups, squats, and leg lifts, and I increase each move daily.
- 10-15 Minutes of a Pilates workout
- 10-15 Minutes of Cardio
Here’s what I’ve found so far, this workout routine works for me because I love starting with yoga to get moving and most importantly, to stretch! I watch Adriene Yoga mainly but there are so many videos out there to choose from! That goes for Pilates videos as well. Blogilates and Madfit are two of my favorites for anything cardio or pilates. If you like someone who talks you through the video so you don’t think about how much time you have left, Blogilates is perfect! If you enjoy hearing music and focusing on your form, Madfit is great.
Fourth Week
All being said, this is my fourth week consistently sticking to this schedule and I have to be honest, it doesn’t get easier. There are so many moments that I want to skip a day and sit and binge Sex and the City. But I do feel that I’m not cheating as much anymore, I’m doing the moves no matter how hard they are, and I can tell my mood is changing as well. Part of that may have to do with the fact that I’ve also been writing way more than before, but the small things that used to irritate me don’t seem that important anymore. The only downside is when I do take the weekend off it feels like having to start all over again on Monday. This might never get easier but it’s a start!
