Write for the Sake of Writing

Every student in my major came in with big dreams of having their work published. We would eagerly sit with our pens and notebooks, taking in all the advice we could from professors who made it happen for themselves. But as soon as we got a big assignment, we would complain about the amount of… Continue reading

The Seasons Still Change

It was winter when you died, Your least favorite season. Missing you is the only thing That keeps me warm. The snow is melting beneath my aching feet. The pollen this is all consuming And you’re still gone. You were The only one who could make Me laugh so hard my stomach Hurt. How can… Continue reading

Letter to a Past Self

You know that boy you have a crush on? You will not remember his name years from now. Remember that fourth-grade teacher that yelled at you because you said the word Damn out loud? You will let this go, and you will have many more embarrassing stories that will overshadow this one. Right now, you… Continue reading

RIP to All the Foods I Can’t Eat because of hang overs or Food Poisoning.

I skipped last week’s post because I wanted to take a break for the holidays. Writing today only confirms how stressful it is to write this time of year. That’s why I write something fun and silly now. So here it goes, foods I may never eat again: Powdered doughnuts. This was caused by food… Continue reading

Dystopian Novel Predictions

For a while now I’ve been avidly reading post-apocalyptic novels. As far as dystopian novels go, Margaret Atwood writes them so hauntingly well that it reminds us of how close we are to a dystopia. It starts off with common comments about how the human race will one day end up destroying itself. It’s eerie… Continue reading

Sometimes I Feel like Running Away Before People get Sick of me

Close your eyes. But not so tightly that all you see is light fading into splashes of fuzzy colors. Imagine the person you love more than anything. Relive the memories of him in your head like a broken record stuck on repeat. Think about the last time you saw him. How he hugged you so… Continue reading

To all the Women in my Life

To my coworker who wipes the sweat off her forehead at the end of the day, I cherish the conversations we have that we can never finish. I learned that it doesn’t matter how old we are; we all go through similar situations all the time. To my English professor, who chose only female authors… Continue reading

Selfish

I wear your boxers to bed sometimes, so you’ll think of me every time you get dressed. When we’re watching a show, I make remarks so you won’t be able to watch them without a memory of me. I hate cooking, but I hate cooking for men even more. There’s only my mother to blame… Continue reading

I’m Upset When I’m Awake Because I’m Not Asleep

Lately some days feel like a dream, and only when I sleep do things become clear. As I shut my eyes and fall deeper and deeper I completely let go of everything; of every worry I have, of everything that makes me anxious. It all dissolves as I submit to dreaming. I heard once that… Continue reading
About Me
Hi there! I’m thrilled to have you join me on my blog. I write fiction, nonfiction, and everything in between.
In my free time, I like to keep busy with a variety of hobbies. I’m an avid reader and writer, I love to knit, crochet, and embroider.
At the end of the day, though, my main priority is spending time with my loved ones. Whether it’s traveling or just spending quality time together, I’m happiest when I’m surrounded by those I care about.
