Resistance

I’ve been avoiding this for some time now. At first, I blamed it on my father’s death, as if resistance was born within me when he died. Then, when I started my blog, my goal was to submit once a week. And then resistance came from lack of energy, from working too much, from being… Continue reading

Pride

Everyone’s greatest sin. When I think of pride I don’t think of parades and rainbows and glitter. I think long nights where neither one of us is speaking. Where both of us think we are right, but neither one of us are. Nights where I want to apologize but not before he does. Nights where… Continue reading

Sometimes People are Great

My first assistant was very shy and very sweet. When I opened up to me I learned how complicated her world was, how haunted by the past, and how supported she was in Minnesota. Losing her was rough. She had a way with kids that just came naturally. I could never sooth them that way.… Continue reading

Some Days…

Some days I feel like I can be a toddler teacher forever, like I was meant to do this. Some days I want to leave in the middle of my shift. I’d go faraway, to a different country possibly, where I can start over and be a writer, not a teacher. Then some days one… Continue reading

Small Talk That Goes Nowhere

“Hey, how are you?” “Good, and you?” “Good, thank you.” “That’s good.” *** “It’s really hot today.” “It is but I saw it was gonna rain the rest of the week.” “That’s good.” *** “Where are you from?” “New Hampshire. You?” “I’m from here.” “Oh, cool.” *** “Are your parents dead?” “No, are yours?” “Yes.”… Continue reading

Dear Inner Child,

It’s not your fault that the grownups in your life let you down. It does not define you. You were not unloved. Your parents were damaged beings that were not ready to be parents. You turned out amazing without them. Yes, you’re still fragile, hurting, and anxious, but it does not define you. You will… Continue reading

Rituals
I’m getting scary good at waking up before my alarm clock. The worst is when it’s one minute before I HAVE to wake up, it’s pointless to even try closing my eyes again after that. At this point my body acts before my mind does. I pull my bathrobe off it’s hook and saunter over… Continue reading

Update 2.0

I started my new job this Monday, and every day I am amazed at how well they treat their employees and the fact that everyone always looks rested, happy, and stress-free. I’ve been trying to get into the mindset that if I seek happiness, that’s what I’ll get in return. Today, on the way to… Continue reading
About Me
Hi there! I’m thrilled to have you join me on my blog. I write fiction, nonfiction, and everything in between.
In my free time, I like to keep busy with a variety of hobbies. I’m an avid reader and writer, I love to knit, crochet, and embroider.
At the end of the day, though, my main priority is spending time with my loved ones. Whether it’s traveling or just spending quality time together, I’m happiest when I’m surrounded by those I care about.
