    Loyalty

Amanda stared at the man she loved as he got down on one knee and pulled a tiny box out of his right pocket. Before he could speak, Amanda shouted Yes! Luke closed his mouth and stood up to put the ring on Amanda’s finger.  She wrapped her arms around Luke, and he hugged her back, though… Continue reading

    The Best Thing to Happen

“Ivory just asked if she can have your number,” Derek said from across the room. I spit out the toothpaste in my mouth and ask, “what for?” “She didn’t say. What should I tell her?” “She can have it,” I guess. I say this in my head as I walk towards the couch where he’s sitting.… Continue reading

    The Beginning

A few drinks into meeting Ivory, she asks, “can I straighten your hair?”Be it the warmth from the shot of Jameson, or that I feel the need to fit in with Derek’s friends, I say yes.Ivory smiled and led me into the bathroom. Ivory towered over me at 5’9. Her blonde hair fell across her… Continue reading

    Some Things Can’t be Taken

Yesterday would be his 48th birthday. I still remember what he looks like, thanks to the photographs I have of him. However, his voice is starting to fade. He never left voicemails or anything, and if he appeared in a video somewhere, he was never loud enough to be heard. All I can rely on… Continue reading

  • Kurt Vonnegut’s Letter to the Future

The recent United Nation’s report on climate change should be a wake-up call to humanity. But we have been warned about these challenges for decades and have done little about them. Way back in 1988, the great writer Kurt Vonnegut wrote a letter to the people of 2088 addressing these self-same issues. In the video… Continue reading

“I’m Thinking of Ending Things” Review

From the first sentence of the book I was hooked. It started out as a mystery novel and ended with the biggest plot twist I’ve ever read. As a reader one can start to see patterns in books, but I didn’t see this one coming. The narrator of the story seems wary the entire time,… Continue reading

    This is Not a Dream

The first thing I noticed when my eyes sprung open is that I wasn’t home. I woke up on the bottom of a bunk bed without my blanket, pillow, without anything I recognized but the clothes I was wearing. Everywhere around me girls about my age looked around with the same look on their face,… Continue reading

    Some Philosophy Questions

There are three questions my partner has been asking three philosophical questions recently: What do you want to be written on your gravestone? What separates us from animals? What is the meaning of life? Before I give my answers, take a moment to think about your answers to this.  For the first one, I don’t… Continue reading

“People in America think they are oppressed. They are not oppressed. They don’t know the definition of oppression.” Park Yeon-mi The very least you and I can do is share this story as many times as we can, with as many people as possible. Tragedy doesn’t even begin to describe what Park Yeon-mi went through.… Continue reading

About Me

Hi there! I’m thrilled to have you join me on my blog. I write fiction, nonfiction, and everything in between.

In my free time, I like to keep busy with a variety of hobbies. I’m an avid reader and writer, I love to knit, crochet, and embroider.

At the end of the day, though, my main priority is spending time with my loved ones. Whether it’s traveling or just spending quality time together, I’m happiest when I’m surrounded by those I care about.
